The Red Beach is located in the Liaohe River Delta, about 30 kilometer southwest of Panjin City in China. The beach gets its name from its appearance, which is caused by a type of sea weed that flourishes in the saline-alkali soil. The weed that start growing during April or May remains green during the summer. In autumn, this weed turns flaming red, and the beach looks as if it was covered by an infinite red carpet that creates a rare red sea landscape. Most of the Red Beach is a nature reserve and closed to the public. Only a small, remote, section is open for tourists.

Ik Kil cenote, Yucatán, Mexico
Ik Kil is a well
known cenote outside Piste in the Municipality of Tinum, Yucatán, Mexico, It is
located in the northern center of the Yucatán Peninsula and is part of the Ik
Kil Archeological Park near Chichen Itza. It is open to the public for swimming
and is often included in bus tours.
A cenote is a
natural phenomenon, a sinkhole in the Earth’s surface. The Yucatan Peninsula in
Mexico has an estimated 7,000 cenotes because it is primarily made up of porous
limestone. For millions of years, rainfall slowly ate away at the limestone and
a huge system of undergroundcaves and caverns was formed. Many filled with
water from rain or from the underground water table. When the roof of a water
filled cave collapses, a cenote is born. The water found in a cenote may be
fresh water, salt water, or both. Structurally it may be completely open, like
a lake, almost completely closed with just a small opening at the top, or
somewhere in between.
